The story & the method

About Floor Life

Two camps already write about living close to the ground. One has the evidence and none of the charm. The other has all the charm and skips the evidence. We're trying to stand in the gap.

On one side sit the movement people — biomechanists and mobility coaches with credible, sometimes viral science, wrapped in plain, functional, faintly clinical writing. On the other sit the design people — beautiful photography of tatami rooms and low sofas, treating the floor as a styling trend and rarely mentioning why it might matter.

Floor Life is an attempt to hold both at once: the calm, sunlit beauty of a home built low to the ground, and an honest account of what the research actually says — applied not to a Japanese farmhouse but to an ordinary Western apartment with a couch and a deadline.

What we believe

Who it's for

The floor-curious taking their first cushion down, and the seasoned floor-sitter going deeper. Start with the evidence, or just get down on the floor and see how it feels.

Not medical advice — see the disclosure.
